After a couple of very rolly nights from the 4-6 foot swell,
we were ready to get under way again.
Another new challenge presented itself with the task of pulling up the
stern anchor. First we have to launch
the dinghy go out and get the anchor, that hopefully comes up easily, and then
get the dinghy back on the boat. All
went surprisingly well, and we were soon on our way to La Cruz. 
Rounding Punta de Mita
Once again, the wind was too light for sailing so we motored
all the way to Punta de Mita before some wind filled in for sailing. The 43 nautical mile trip took us about 8
hours. Along the way we caught a 10
pound Bonito that we tossed back because it’s a little too oily for our
taste. However, just after rounding
Punta de Mita and putting the sails up, we hooked something else. We were excited to find a Sierra Mackerel
attached to the end of the line! We have
been trying to catch one of these ever since we came to Mexico, and this one
bit a lure that he was not supposed to like.
These fish have nice tasty white meat similar to Halibut.

We arrived a late to check into the marina, so
we anchored out with the rest of the 25 or so cruisers at the mouth of the
marina breakwater. The anchorage was a
little rolly, but nothing compared to where we were in Chacala. As the sun set, we fired up the BBQ and
cooked our fish while enjoying a sunset cocktail. The dinner of fish, rice and salad was
fantastic. We were in a nice calm
anchorage, full of fish and alcohol, and ready to start our new adventures in
Banderas Bay and Puerto Vallarta.
