We left Agua Verde April 18th and headed north to
Bahia Candeleros where we heard there was a new resort hotel that had free
wifi. It was also on the way to Loreto
where we plan to attend Loreto Fest in a couple of weeks. While there are cruisers that plan their
entire life around their next wifi connection, we are trying not to let it
influence our plans too much.

The resort is in the middle of nowhere in this beautiful
cove, with a nice white sand beach. Our
second day here, we decided to visit the resort and see what they had to
offer. It has a very large pool and
patio area with 4 pools and a couple of Jacuzzis. They have a very nice bar and a high end
restaurant all situated outdoors on the patio area. This place was like an oasis. We had a beer with our friends on Neos and
made plans to return that night for a dinner treat at the main restaurant.

The dinner turned out to be one of the better meals we have
had in Mexico. After a couple of very
good and large martinis, we found the menu to be extensive and rather
reasonably priced for the location.
Cathy ordered her favorite chocolate clams (the color is chocolate, not
the flavor) Loreto style. This is a
large platter of 22 clams, each about 3 inch in diameter, covered in cheeses
and chipotle sauce and broiled. The two
of us could barely finish her dinner alone.
Rich had a nice piece of mesquite grilled snapper with spicy red sauce
that was fantastic. It was great to have
such a nice civilized meal out in the middle of the desert. Did we mention the free wifi?

We spent a few days here kayaking and visiting other
boats. One day Roger and Sue on Neos
taught us Baja Rummy, a card game that takes about 5 hours to play. Not sure we really understand the whole game
yet, but at least we have the basics.
