You may have noticed that we have not updated our blog for awhile. Well, we had a good reason. We went back to Alameda for a few weeks to take care of taxes (yuk) and check on the house after the winter. We had some nice visits with family and friends, so much so, that we almost never ate at home the whole time! Cathy got a chance to tour the new Joint Center at Washington Hospital that she worked so hard on the planning over the years. Rich had a chance to visit with his friends at the marina where he used to work, and we got together with our close friends that we miss quite a bit. You know who you are! One freezing morning (actually about 45deg) we decided to go to San Francisco and play tourist. We took BART instead of the ferry, because the wind was so strong we correctly assumed that the ferries would not be running. We spent most of the day at the Marketplace in the ferry plaza.
We picked up some nice cheese from Petaluma, some bread from San Francisco, and some chocolate. After sampling some local wines and olives, we headed back across the bay to Alameda for a nap and a nice dinner of fresh cod. It was very different being back at home and not feeling the need to go to work the next day. Different, but great! We are back in La Paz now getting the boat ready to head into the Sea of Cortez for the spring and summer. The area is fairly remote, so we need to make sure we have good supplies of food and beverage. We look forward to sailing with the whales, snorkeling and kayaking, and the nice warm water.
