It is Christmas Day and all through the marina, things are pretty quiet. Earlier in the week we picked two children from the local orphanage to buy a gift for. They both wrote letters to Santa that would make anyone cry. As part of this Christmas project, we also got together with other cruisers for a potluck and gift wrapping session to wrap all the donated toys for the other kids that did not write letters to Santa. There will be a big party and gift opening with all the kids on their traditional day of January 6th.

It was a lot of fun taking the bus to Walmart to find the two toys that the kids wanted. They boy is 7 years old, and the girl is 3.
Last night on Christmas Eve, we got together with about 6 other boats for a dock party and potluck on Dock 10. The food was fantastic with the highlights being Niki's candied limes stuffed with coconut, and her dates stuffed with Jalapeno cheese. Of course Cathy's homemade pesto pasta was also a hit. Someone even brought some home smoked salmon from Alaska that they managed to get through the airport the day before.

Today we spent some time walking on the beach enjoying the weather. We had nice talks with family back home via a sketchy Skype connection. It's always hard to communicate during the holidays with so many people trying to do the same thing over very poor telephone and Internet lines. It was great to see everyone, even their voice and picture never matched up for us. We wish everyone a very merry Christmas.
