Ensenada de Los Muertos

After leaving San Jose de Los Cabos we set sail for Bahia Los Frailes.  Once we got there however, the wind had changed direction and there were three foot waves and 20 knots of wind blowing into the anchorage.  We decided to continue on to Ensenada de los Muertos.  We figured we should arrive there about 10 p.m., and since there was a beautiful moon that night, we should be able to anchor safely.  The full moon anchoring went quite well, and we awoke in a beautiful bay where we immediately jumped in for a swim.  We spent the day visiting other boats nearby and just relaxing.  However, that afternoon some dark clouds and strong winds started blowing into the anchorage.  Soon we had 20 knots plus wind and 3-4 foot waves coming from the wrong direction.  It was too rough to get the anchor up, and we knew the wind was supposed to die during the night sometime, so we just held on and did anchor watches all evening.  Cathy managed to get some soup prepared as the boat was being tossed about.  Finally at 3 a.m. the wind was light enough to get out of there.  We made tracks for La Paz where we could find some protected anchorage.
